Production vs. Safety... or Production & Safety?

Some experts or Managers say “Production vs. Safety” and put one thing against another. It sounds like do you need petrol or vehicle to reach a town 300km away? These 2 things can’t be exist without each other.

Example #1: When we nail the spike, we don’t hit as fast as we possible and as more as we can for hitting more spikes instead of looking hit point and do it accurately (natural safety instinct works somewhere in the brain and tell us how powerful and exactly where we hit and brain makes decision within 0.001 second) while holding the spike.

Example #2: Production & Safety - we carry it all day. Let’s imagine as “drinking coffee is the production”. You can’t drink just-boiled hot coffee (95C/203F) consciously because your natural instinct (ability to identify hazard) will stop your action and tells “damn, it will hurt me”… you can’t see your brain’s decision that made in 0.001 sec, but you can see your arm is putting the coffee down on the table.

Production & Safety is integral and can’t be separated or put against each other or prioritize.

PS: Some people tell me when employees fill up Risk Assessment Sheets and High risk permits; it takes 60-120min from his/her production time every day. My answer is: I think your safety system is too complicated. You built it, so you fix it. Do not try to split naturally integral thing into pieces and make your life and job difficult.
