Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
When some people think of safety education, they think of school-aged children. In reality, education begins when a child is a baby. Education begins at home. Those early lessons a child learns will guide him for the rest of his life. Lessons of safety, obedience, love, respect and self-control will help a child become a successful and healthy adult.
What influence to child's safe behavior?
No.1 is Parents' examples and mentoring. They learn what they see & feel.
No.2 is TV & Computer programs in modern world. If children are constantly placed in front of televisions or computers, lack a crucial ingredient of a well-balanced life is set in them especially when we don't to care what to show or refuse to our children. Personally I don’t like to present some cartoons on CN such as Tom & Jerry, Uncle Grandpa, Oggy & Cockroaches, Courage the Cowardly Dog which give bad safety examples, too much violence & fear to my 4 years old princess because a child imitate unsafe actions. However we can make a better choice to turn TV on good programs such as my little Pony, Penguin, Peppa Pig, Shaun the Sheep, Mister Bean, and Charlie Chaplin and explain do’s & don’ts for being safely and behaving properly at home and public places.
No 3 is peer education at kindergarten or playground.
Child memory is a blank paper and what we teach or show are written on it. As some scientists said, 50% of personal attitude is established before 6 years old. We harvest what we plant.
