HSE employee is innocent

When we look deeper at root cause of any failure of an HSE employee, Leader or Manager’s malfunctions are identified. As a Leader, I should take whole responsibility of my team on me. If there is no performance or achievement of HSE team means I hired wrong personal or didn’t lead them by example, so it’s my fault. If my team member doesn’t like his task, I must motivate him or show him the big picture and explain how important his task for completing the picture. If I delegated wrong task to my employee, it’s my mistake such as delegating incident investigation to HSE Clerk not Coordinator. If my Clerk sends wrong report to other teams, it’s my failure too because I’m responsible to control & review the report before release it. When my HSE trainer delivers wrong message to Company employees, responsibility comes to me as well where through I have a duty to mentor her.

It’s easy to blame own people, but bad way to destroy the team, especially when bully in front of other people.

Good way is Leader accepts own error, understands his responsibility and take corrective actions. When employees feel safe environment (Leader is Umbrella to protect, not a Shed to hide employees’ excellence), motivated, mentored, trust to their Leader, they shine as Brilliant.
